Based on the above, "open federation" in OCS 2007 and Lync 2010 seems to be lacking some of the automation that was likely originally intended for the feature. Sharing 501 [user name] did not respond to your sharing invitation. [user name] did not respond to your sharing invitation because their server does not support desktop sharing. Sharing 503 Sharing couldn't be started because the server is busy. You need to listen to the PropertyChanged event and watch for the ConferencingProperty being set.
