Set its values as (1.1 * PROCESSES) + 5 . The log file for the listener (located at $ORACLE_HOME/network/log/listener.log) has reached the 2GB file size limit on Linux. This broken pipe error can also be a permission issue. To alleviate the problem, simply archive or delete the listener log file and restart the listener process with lsnrctl start.

Looking at this note if you are using role separation (which i was) the error may be due to incorrect permissions on the oracle binary in the ORACLE_HOME. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 4. Everyone else had been saying processes and sessions and network settings.
